Pension Service Publishes First Membership Statistics

The Pension Service of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published its first statistical release on the membership of the Network Pension Scheme. The release records the position at establishment on 6 September 2026 and the records transferred to the Service by member organisations during the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026.

At establishment the scheme has 14,280 contributing members employed by 46 participating member organisations. Their average age is 41, and 1,548 of them have reached the minimum pension age of 56. The two largest employers account for 6,300 members between them; seventeen employers have fewer than fifty members each. A further 1,145 members hold deferred benefits transferred from the predecessor arrangements of 31 member organisations, and 212 pensions are in payment.

During the transition period the Service received 14,412 contributing member records, of which 14,280 were validated in time for establishment; the remaining 132 are subject to queries with the employers concerned and will be added to the register when resolved. Records of prior service for 3,415 members were transferred into the scheme in bulk. The Service will publish membership statistics quarterly, with the next release, covering the quarter ending 5 December 2026, due in December.
